March Update
Lily moved into a toddler's bed last month. It was an interesting transition. She was very excited about it right up to the point when she realized that she was meant to sleep in it. The first couple of nights she woke up two or three times. At least once, I fell asleep curled up in the little thing with her. Thankfully she's back to sleeping through the night.
While Evelyn is sleeping more easily, I'm afraid I can't say she's sleeping through the night yet. Lorah has been a good sport about it and I've had it easy despite her scant sleep schedule.
Work has been going well. I spent a good deal of last month working on the hospital design of the new ship. We had a week's worth of meetings defining the design criteria and I was pleasantly surprised by how productive the meetings were. I'm excited that this part of the design has moved forward as much as it has. Much of the progress that remains to be made in other areas of the new ship design is dependent on the work that was accomplished regarding the hospital, so April should be another productive month for new ship design as well.
I'm not sure if I've shared this or not, but this summer the whole family will be going to the ship! I'm going to be managing the 'projects team,' which is Mercy Ships volunteers working on repairs and improvements to the ship. If any of you are interested in working with us this summer (in the Canary Islands), please email me and I'll get you in touch with the right people. We need a HVAC technician, some welders, as well as people with general construction and maintenance type experience. If you don't have much experience, but just want to help out, we can also use assistants to work with the skilled craftsmen and help keep the ship ship-shape.
One other exciting change that we're trying to make is becoming home owners in the Lindale area. We're renting now, but in order to increase our long term viability of working with Mercy Ships, we've realized that it makes sense to get moved into a home. We would appreciate your prayers for us during this process in the following areas:
- That we'll find the 'right' place
- That we'll be able to raise the additional support to cover the added expenses of owning a home
- That we'll be able to make it into a home before we leave for the ship this summer
If your interested in helping us financially to get into a home, check out the support us link at the top left of this page.
Thanks for stopping by!
