The Spice of Life

This week we're running a course at the Maritime Training Center (which is part of Marine Operations in Mercy Ships) called Basic Safety Training (BST). This is a week long class, during which we instruct students in three basic safety (hence the name!) fields:

  1. Survival at Sea
  2. Fire Prevention and Fire-fighting
  3. Elementary First Aid
When I'm available, I serve as one of the instructors for the firefighting and survival at sea portions. This week I was only able to serve for the firefighting portion. I was emailed a picture of me with some students (see below) from this week's fire field evolution, and it reminded me of the blessing of variety I have in my work with Mercy Ships. Variety truly is the spice of life! I thought I'd share that via a short timeline of photos below:

Nov 2013: BST - Lindale, TX

Aug 2013: in the office - Lindale, TX
Nov 2012: BST - Lindale, TX
Dec 2010: Generator/Air Conditioning Replacement - Durban, South Africa

Oct 2009: Working on old A/C Compressor - Africa Mercy, Benin
