It's Official
I'm excited to share that Mercy Ships has signed a contract with a shipyard to purpose-build a new hospital ship! You can read the official announcement here.
Although construction on the ship won't start for more than a year from now, I've been working on plans and the specification of this ship for more than two years. It's a pretty long process, and I'm excited for the next phase of the project.
My family and I will be relocating to Sweden next year, as I will be part of the project management and design team. I will focus on the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, as well as hospital architectural details, signage, and other aspect of the project that are unique to Mercy Ships' operating profile, goals, and requirements.
After the detailed design phase of the project is complete, I will move from Sweden to China to supervise various aspects of the project, working in concert with the wonderful folks from Stena RoRo that Mercy Ships has contracted for project management.
It's an exciting time, and I'm overjoyed and honored that Mercy Ships would put so much trust in me to play the part that I am in bringing hope and healing to the forgotten poor.
